No revitalization of Japan without the reconstruction of the disaster area, Prime Minister Abe said at the meeting of the Reconstruction Promotion Council.“I have been visiting the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake every month, adopting a hands-on approach. Through my visits, I have seen firsthand that reconstruction has made steady strides, observing the smiles on the faces of families who have moved into public housing for disaster-stricken households as well as the vast stretches of green fields in areas where farming has resumed. […] At the same time, although it will soon be three years since the earthquake, more than 270,000 people are still spending this winter at their evacuation locations.”

Monthly Economic Report says "The Japanese economy is recovering at a moderate pace." On prospects for the economy, it states "The economy is expected to be on a recovery trend as household income and business investment increase, while exports move toward picking up and the effects of the policies support. However, slowing down of overseas economies is still downside risk of the Japanese economy. A last-minute rise in demand before a consumption tax increase and subsequent negative reaction are expected."
