Prime Minister Abe Shinzo offered prayers at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery and attended the annual Memorial Ceremony for the War Dead. PM Abe said in his address, “We will carve out the future of this country as one full of hope, as we face history with humility and engrave deeply into our hearts the lessons that we should learn. We will make contributions to lasting world peace… and spare no effort in working to bring about a world in which all people are able to live enriched lives.”
After the Cabinet decided to hold the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit from December 13th to 15th at the State Guest House, Akasaka Palace, Kishida Fumio, Foreign Minister said, "At this ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit, leaders are expected to discuss at the meeting the mid- and long-term visions to strengthen Japan-ASEAN relations and intend to make this an opportunity to further strengthen and expand Japan-ASEAN relations." At the Meeting of the Government and Ruling Parties on the Mid-term Fiscal Plan and FY2014 Guidelines for Budget Requests, Prime Minister Abe Shinzo said, "The FY2014 budget is the first budget that the Abe Cabinet is undertaking from the budget request phase, and is an important budget for overcoming deflation and ensuring that we achieve the FY2015 fiscal soundness targets without fail."
