Advisory Committee on Cultural Exchanges in Asia Prime Minister Abe Shinzo attended the fifth meeting of the Advisory Committee on Cultural Exchanges in Asia and said, “When I visited Southeast Asia in January of this year, I presented five principles of Japan's ASEAN diplomacy. I believe you have discussed specific measures regarding the fourth principle, 'Protecting and nurturing Asia's diverse cultural heritages and traditions,' from a broad range of perspectives.”

First and Second Day of the Prime Minister's Visit to the United States Prime Minister Abe Shinzo visited the United States and held a Japan-France Summit Meeting on 24. On the following day, the Prime Minister held talks with Mr. William (Bill) H. Gates, and then participated in the Special Event towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Later, the Prime Minister held talks with Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and received a courtesy call from Bono of U2. After that, the Prime Minister attended a side event related to the post-2015 development agenda and health. In the afternoon, the Prime Minister delivered an address at an award ceremony held at the Hudson Institute, where he received the Herman Kahn Award. The Prime Minister then visited the New York Stock Exchange and delivered a speech. Later, the Prime Minister visited Ground Zero and offered flowers.
